The Framing Of The World
Rolling around in my spirit the past week or so is the verse in Hebrews 11:3 that by Yahweh’s Word and my faith (believing that Word), but not necessarily understanding, He will frame (arrange and order) my world. I wonder what my world looks like to Yahweh? Am I a ranch style house that He is framing by His Word, maybe a split-level? It has been prophesied to me that I am a skyscraper. Well, the style of the structure He is framing in my life should not matter as much to me as the stage of the building process I am currently enduring.
The writer of Hebrews describes one stage that I hope I have surpassed:
“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God …”
While some would say that I have only built one house in my lifetime, I would maintain that I have built two – my first and my last. In doing so, I learned many valuable lessons about myself and the fact that “Christ is ‘being’ formed in me” – a process that moves from the inside out.
Certainly, the most important stage of the framing of one’s world is the foundation. The foundation is the surface by which the totality of the building will be erected and yet it is mostly neglected. While many Christians would vehemently argue that Christ is the foundation, I would just as passionately maintain that while Christ is the all in all, technically, He is the foundation’s cornerstone (alignment). According to Ephesians 2:20, we Gentiles are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. So, it is not a stretch for me to say that if one rejects the apostolic and prophetic equipping nature of the Christ anointing offered them, then one might be delaying the process of future construction. For why would Yahweh continue a building process doomed to condemnation (to declare unfit for use)? The apostle Paul explains this point to the Thessalonians,
“But as we [apostles] have been approved [to prove its worth] by Yahweh to be entrusted [to be fully persuaded] with the gospel, even so we speak [to talk at random], not as pleasing men, but Yahweh who tests [discerns our worth]our hearts.” 1 Thess. 2:4
In essence, Paul is explaining that one’s value to Yahweh is commensurate to the weight of responsibility that can be given them. In addition, Paul makes plain that this worth is judged by believing the “now” Word and not necessarily understanding what the finished product will look like. Notice that apostles and those equipped by apostles, speak at random – many times not understanding everything to do with Yahweh’s ultimate intentions but willing to trust that He knows what He is doing.
Today, Autumn and I live in a house that is complete but continues to evolve. The foundation is set, the framing is erected, the covering has been applied, and all the systems are in place to say that the house is ready to be occupied. Are there still things to be accomplished? Absolutely! Christ is being formed in us all by our willingness to allow the architect to frame our world by His Word. Will you trust Him, believe, and come into agreement with Him even when you don’t understand? We’ll see.
